On their one year anniversary, Dean takes Castiel to a park.
charlie wanted to fall in love. he hadn’t told me that himself, but a girl just knows. it used to be my obligation to make him fall in love with me - no one else but me. however, i have long since come to the realization that - with me - charlie could never be truly happy. and if you truly love someone, you’ll want them to be happy.
so i’m writing this story about a boy who dies in a drunken car accident, who is then punished for the way he died and is made to be a stand-in guardian angel as some sort of twisted “community service”.
Dean sits in the Novak’s kitchen, cradling a half asleep Claire in his arms. Mr. and Mrs. Novak are out of town on some extremely complicated, dean-your-brain-is-not-capable-of-processing-such-elaborate-information business of some sorts, leaving Castiel alone with his three younger siblings for the weekend.
Dean and Castiel are at the pool the first time it happens.
